- Pelee Kitchen will operate on grey or red protocols (if allowed) for the length of the Covid-19 pandemic. Pelee Kitchen is a sole-proprietorship take-out and custom order based food service business with no employees.
- Proprietor/Volunteers will check their health before entering the building. If the proprietor contacts Covid-19 Pelee Kitchen will be temporally closed.
- All volunteers will be given a health and safety speech on Basic Safety and Covid-19 protocols.
- Pelee Kitchen is only offering take-out based food service during the Covid-19 pandemic. Customers are encouraged to call ahead to place their order. The customers will be given a personal designated time to pick up their order. The food will be delivered to the customers car. Masks must by worn by the proprietor/volunteer and the customer. Hands must be washed thoroughly after handling payment.
- The proprietor will monitor the media for any major updates.
- The Covid-19 Safety plan will be on display in waterproof protective packing for easy cleaning to inform all who enter 1169 West Shore Road of the Covid Safety Protocols set in place by the kitchen tenant, “Pelee Kitchen.”

- All touched surfaces will be wiped down with bleach water at the end and beginning of each shift. Including the telephone and doorknobs.
- Masks must be worn by the proprietor/volunteer and customer when the food is delivered to the car in the back parking lot.
- Hands must be washed thoroughly after each payment/delivery transaction.
- Customers are encouraged to call Pelee Kitchen to place their order. They will be given a designated time to pick up their order to ensure social distancing.
- The customer will be informed of Pelee Kitchen’s Covid-19 safety protocols when they place their order on the phone.
- Information about Pelee Kitchen’s Covid-19 Safety Plan will be posted on the Pelee Kitchen’s facebook page, “Pelee Kitchen” and online on the website owned by the sole proprietor www.carolynhardysurrealism.com.
- Menus are available to be taken off-site and are in waterproof packaging for easy cleaning and disinfection. Menus will be used in rotation.
- Every Wednesday morning the proprietor will check Ontario.ca and listen to the local media for any major updates.
- The proprietor will monitor all personal relations and restrict unessential travel.
- Proprietor/Volunteer will complete the Ontario Covid-19 screening tool for workplaces each day before their shift.
- “Masks Mandatory” and “Do Not Enter if you are Sick” signs will be posted on all doors.
- Pelee Kitchen is renting the commercial kitchen located Pelee Legion Branch # 403 at 1169 West Shore Road. Non-Pelee Kitchen Visitors are the responsibly of Pelee Legion Branch # 403.
- Visitors will be required to wear masks at all times.
- The names and dates of Visitors and Volunteers who enter the legion while Pelee Kitchen is in operation will be recorded.
- Visitors and Volunteers will be asked the questions in the Ontario Covid-19 Screening School for Workplaces, the date and time, name, contact details, note of screening details, and nature of the visit will be recorded.

- When approaching a car for delivery the delivery person will stop 6 feet away from the car if the customer is not wearing a mask. The delivery person will ask the customer to put on a mask, and ensure they do put on a mask before they proceed with the transaction.

- The concept behind the operation of Pelee Kitchen was born during the covid pandemic. The operation of Pelee Kitchen is designed to work safely with all covid protocols. Pelee Kitchen will only be offering takeout food during the covid pandemic. The proprietor feels that this is safer for everyone involved and less confusing for the customers.
- Keeping the proprietor, volunteers, customers, and island residents safe while offering a chance for Patrons of Pelee Island to receive delicious takeout food is Pelee Kitchen’s main concern.
- We are trying to maintain continuation of the zero covid case count on Pelee Island by offering zero opportunity for the covid germ to be spread through the takeout food services offered by Pelee Kitchen.
