Carolyn Hardy is a Canadian Artist specializing in surrealism. Her original colourful swirling pieces capture attention and are unique with Carolyn’s undeniable signature style.
Carolyn has been creating for her entire life and has never given up on her dream of being a famous artist. Carolyn paints because she loves to paint. Her surrealist worlds are most commonly created through acrylic on canvas. Many of her artworks are created in the studio, although some of her most beautiful artwork is created in a single sitting. Plein Air, Still Life, and Live Painting Performances all exist to capture a moment, share a truth, or to unveil a mystery.
Carolyn’s studio is a wonderland where she works on many canvases at once. When Carolyn is presented with a theme or commission she will study and experiment with the concept. This practice results in a collection of paintings with similar themes to accompany every masterpiece. Almost all of Carolyn’s artworks are sold soon after their creation.
Carolyn is a self taught artist and she had her first solo art exhibit at 18 years old. She has sold over 700 original paintings and has been on exhibit in 8 countries. Her illustrations, poetry, articles and reviews have appeared in a handful of storybooks, publications, and magazines.
Her iconic swirling masterpieces are unforgettable. What makes her artwork so remarkable is that it is so unique.
Carolyn’s prolific artistic career began in Canada’s most southern small town. Her live painting performances and art displays in coffee shops have now become international art fairs and giant illuminated billboards in major global cities.
Carolyn has appeared on the covers of newspapers and magazines. Her artwork graces the screens of the Big Screen Plaza and of Times Square in New York. Her artwork has been exhibited in the capital of Spain and is now appearing in “Women in Louvre 2” with Art Queens Gallery in Paris, France (April 2026).
As Carolyn became increasingly well-known she realized that visibility came with a social responsibility. With her art, Carolyn strives to be positive, authentic and truthful. Her artwork is illuminating to the extent that her paintings can almost feel alive.
Through acrylic on canvas Carolyn creates an alternative universe. Even her landscapes exist with their own enchanting parallel world of personification and colours.
Carolyn’s surrealist paintings are her most famous works. Some common re-occurring symbolic motifs include: lightbulbs, robots, owls, aliens, mermaids, plants, everyday objects, and the vast galactic expanse of space. Her surreal interpretations offer a fun twist and an alternative viewpoint to life as we know it. Almost all of the artwork by Carolyn Hardy contains her signature swirl.
Carolyn enjoys experimenting and is constantly expanding her repertoire. Being on the international art stage has affected Carolyn’s artistic vision and the themes that she explores with her art. When art is seen by thousands of people across different cultures it becomes a force that speaks all languages. Carolyn’s finished paintings are a reflection of her own soul, experiences, and imagination that she is proud to share with the world.
Carolyn is greatly fueled and inspired by what is possible. It has been an incredible honour and an exciting journey for the artist to be exhibited on the international stage. Carolyn has painted her entire life and she will continue to do so for the entirety of her life. She looks forward to a future that is full of bright lights and fulfilled potential.
